I’m not sure what you’ve tried but here are some basics.

    1) Open your Browser History with Ctrl-H or the sundial icon. Look for the website that delivers the adware message. When you find one or more suspicious listings, Tools > Internet Options > Security tab > Restricted Sites list.

Add them, one at time to the Restricted List.

    2) Start > Run > MsConfig. You can easily uncheck SERVICES and programs which load when you boot.

    3) Many Browser “helpers” are on the View > Toolbars. Uncheck the option.

    4) You can install a fresh copy of Internet Explorer. ALSO you can install another browser. I use Mozilla 1.7.12. It’s not the newest, snazziest whizbang browser but it works just fine.

If all else fails, you might need to run HijackThis, post a log, and get advice on removing registry keys.

If you know when the problem started, you might try invoking a RESTORE POINT that predates the problem.
