AVG or Bitdefender antivirus?

adware detection
James K asked:

Which of these is best, I’m running vista if it helps

Major considerations are system resources used and effectiveness of virus detection/removal

Also since AVG is just anti-virus, if its better what software should I get with it for firewall, anti-spy/adware, etc.

I’ve been running Avg for years. the free version. recently I tried nod32,
It has a 30 day trial, so i thought I’d give it a try. Well, I ran it and right off the bat it found 5 trojans I never knew I had. It cleaned them up and my system was running considerably faster. It takes on spyware and rootkits as well. I recommend it. It’s not free, $60 a year which is kind of out of my budget, but maybe not for you. The free trial is worth the ride though, especially if your system has been running a while like mine has.
