downloaded and initialised adware. still getting a pop op that “your computer is infected” How to remove it.

whenever i open my computer i was getting a pop up that my computer is infected. it was suggesting to me to buy a particular spyware removal software. i have now downloaded adware and have also initialised it. still i am getting this pop up. How to ensure that all infections have been removed?
