How to remove an icon from my system tray?

adware detection
Inquisitive asked:

I don’t know how, but the icon of an adware detection program Spy Dawn got itself installed in my system tray. Every now and then it pops up a warning that my computer is under threat and I should buy the software.

I have uninstalled the programme, but the icon still remains in the system tray annoying me with its frequent warnings.

How can I get rid of this menance?

Thanks for your help.

Go to start > run > The type ‘msconfig’ > then click on the ‘startup’ tab and look for that program. If you find it untick the box next to it and click apply. If its not in the ‘start up’ tab try looking in the ‘services’ tab.

click on run from the start menu
    write msconfig
    go to the startup tab
and uncheck the program you dont want to appear in the system tray.

    reboot your computer
    that menace wont appear again

It’d be better if you right click on it and uninstall it forever!

SpyDawn is Rogue/Fake antispyware software. and it has ability to hijack the computer. SpyDawn usually installed itself without you permission, through trojans and virus. SpyDawn also display a fake warning message or security alerts to purchase the paid version of SpyDawn.

SpyDawn also displays a fake warning alert with flashing icon on your system tray. A Pop up balloon warning messages claiming that your PC is infected. For example : “Critical System Error”, “Your computer is infected”,”, “Virus Alert”, “Security Alert” or “Spyware.Cyberlog-X”.

I got all the information from this link , you can also get free manual removal info..
