Okay, so my brother actually fell for one of those fake IE popups. It was ErrorSafe to be exact. After installing it though, he uninstalled later because he said during the ErrorSafe “scan” something weird happened. So we uninstalled it, I then used my Yahoo! Anti Spy program. ErrorSafe showed up, and then I clicked “remove”. Are there any other steps I should take, or is the virus/trojan (or whatever it is) gone for good?

When I’m using any search engines(Yahoo!, Google, Wikipedia, etc) on my Internet Explorer 7, an ad keeps appearing at the left hand side of my screen with a title “Sponsored Result.” It occupies 1/5 of the screen.
I tried everything I could to remove it. Adware/Spyware Removal Programs, uninstalled and installed back several times, but it still can’t be removed.
When I was uninstalling the IE7, apparently a program which is something like “skippyads” is installed on my computer. I thought my problem was already solved when I removed it there (Add/Remove Programs), but again, the ad still keeps on showing.
Currently, I’m using Mozilla Firefox and good thing is, it isn’t affected by it (SCREW IE!!!), but every time I turn on my computer a message appears -
“IE is not currently your default web browser, do you want to make it your default web browser? [/] Always perform this check when using IE” -
even if I don’t start IE.
So, I’m guessing that this adware/virus is opening on startup. Can you guys help me remove this? Maybe manually? THANKS in advance guys!! Happy Day!
